General Information On Chiropractic Education

Doctors of Chiropractic provide health care services in a variety of settings including occupational health and sports medicine practices. Each student is educated to diagnose, to care for the human body in an evidence-based manner, and to integrate their care within the larger health care system. Aspiring doctors of chiropractic receive extensive teachings in the structure and functioning of the human body, the disease processes, and how health is achieved and maintained. Students will learn how to collect, preserve, and analyze samples commonly measured for environmental assessment. Chiropractic schools in Arizona provide students with a strong foundation in the structure and the functions of the human body, how disease occurs, and how to prevent, correct, and maintain a healthy body. Doctors of chiropractic are trained in spinal care, general health and are authorized to diagnose and refer patients.

Chiropractic treatment is safe and has been proven effective in the treatment of many spinal conditions. Well-skilled practitioners are generally able to carry out chiropractic adjustments with little, if any, pain. Spinal manipulation is an excellent option for acute lower back pain, and may also relieve neck pain as well as other musculoskeletal pain. Chiropractic has been shown to be effective for acute and chronic low back pain, neck pain, and headaches. Depending on the type of adjustment, your doctor will ask you to lay on your back, stomach, side or possibly remain in a seated position to receive the treatment. The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as spinal manipulation, also called chiropractic adjustment.

Patients who are having a chiropractic treatment generally lie down on a special padded chiropractic table. Regular chiropractic adjustments at Auman Chiropractic & Rehab can help to restore and maintain balance within, allowing the innately intelligent human body to heal itself. Muscular strains are commonly caused by lifting too heavy of an object, as well as twisting motions. One of the most common and painful causes of back pain is a disc bulge or herniation. You may want to see the chiropractor solely for a complaint like lower back pain or neck pain. Chronic pain conditions are difficult for others to understand, especially if that pain condition is invisible.

Doctor of Chiropractic programs typically take 4 years to complete and require at least 3 years of undergraduate college education for admission. In both chiropractic and medical schools, the classes for the first two academic years are usually basic sciences. After graduating from WSC, you will be prepared to go to graduate school to earn your chiropractic degree. During the first 2 years, most chiropractic programs emphasize classroom and laboratory work in sciences such as anatomy, physiology, public health, microbiology, pathology, and biochemistry. Chiropractic programs require a minimum of 4,200 hours of combined classroom, laboratory, and clinical experience. The Doctor of Chiropractic degree programs average at 4,500 hours which is comparable, if not greater than the amount of hours required by medical students.
